Mumbai has a new young hero, and she is only 10 years old. A little girl from Dombivli has amazed everyone by swimming 17 kilometres in the open sea from the Atal Setu bridge all the way to the Gateway of India.

For most adults, this distance itself feels impossible. But this brave child completed it with steady strokes and a big smile at the end.

Her achievement has become one of the most inspiring stories to come out of Mumbai.

 

A Long and Tough Journey

The swim started near Atal Setu, India’s longest sea bridge. The sea in this area is known for strong waves and changing currents, which can be very challenging even for trained swimmers.

Still, this 10-year-old kept moving forward through the rough water.

After swimming for hours, she finally reached the Gateway of India. People cheered as she came out of the water, tired but happy and proud.

Training From a Young Age

Such a feat doesn’t happen overnight. The young swimmer has been training for years under the guidance of her coaches and parents.

After hours of continuous swimming, the 10-year-old finally reached the Gateway of India. She was exhausted, but had a smile on her face. People gathered at the shore applauded her as she accomplished the remarkable task.

When she finally reached the Gateway of India, she received loud applause. Many people were surprised that a girl so young could complete such a big challenge.
