In the busy streets of Mumbai, thousands of auto-rickshaws move every day. Most of them look the same from the outside. But one auto has touched the hearts of people across the country. It belongs to a driver named Rakesh Jadhav.
After losing his wife, Jadhav made a decision that many people are calling both heartbreaking and inspiring. Instead of leaving his young daughter at home while he worked, he turned his auto-rickshaw into a small, safe space for her so she could stay with him all day.
A Father Left Alone
When Jadhav’s wife passed away, his life changed completely. He was not only grieving as a husband but also worrying as a father. His daughter was still very young. She had already lost her mother.
Now Jadhav had to take care of her alone.
Like many auto drivers in Mumbai, Jadhav earns money daily. If he does not work, he does not earn. Staying home was not an option. But leaving his daughter alone or with someone else did not feel right either.
He did not want her to feel lonely. He did not want her to feel unsafe. So he chose a different path.

Jadhav decided to modify his auto-rickshaw so his daughter could stay with him comfortably.
Inside the small vehicle, he created a soft space for her to sit and sleep. He added cushions and padding, a small bed-like arrangement and a storage space for her clothes and daily needs. It also has curtains for a little privacy.
What looks like a normal auto from the outside becomes a tiny room inside.
Passengers who sit in his auto are often surprised. Some are emotional when they hear his story. For Jadhav, it is not about impressing anyone. It is about making sure his daughter feels secure.
“Hamesha Saath” - Always Together
When asked why he did this, Jadhav said he wanted his daughter to always be with him. After losing her mother, he wanted her to know that her father is always there.
Every road he drives, every signal he waits at, every passenger he carries - his daughter is by his side. It may not be a big house, but it is full of love.
In a fast-moving city like Mumbai, people often rush without noticing the small stories around them. But Jadhav’s auto reminds us that love can exist even in the most ordinary places.
