Here’s what reportedly happened
The mother, Sandhya, a resident of Kurumassery, picked up her 3-year-old daughter Kalyani from her Anganwadi school and boarded a bus. Meanwhile, Kalyani’s father, Subash, was waiting for his wife and daughter since 3:30 pm and when they did not return for almost 3 hours, he called Sandhya’s parents and asked them about their whereabouts. He was told that they were not there.
The family filed a complaint following which Sandhya was questioned. Her statements initially seemed contradictory, however, at one point, she admitted to throwing her daughter into the river from Moozhikulam Bridge. After thorough search, the lifeless body of the 3-year-old was recovered from the river
Sandhya’s mother revealed that she reached their place around 7:00 pm. When asked about the whereabouts of her child, she said that she had lost her.
Just when the family and friends were trying to come to terms with the grief, the post mortem report of the little girl revealed something horrific and unimaginable. The 3-year-old was sexually assaulted before her death. Police have arrested Subhash’s brother in connection with the assault. While the exact nature of his involvement is not known, investigations are still going on.
