Who Can Get the Benefit?

To receive the ₹5,000, you need to meet some eligibility rules:

·       The woman should be pregnant with her first child.

·       She must be 19 years old or above at the time of registration.

·       She must be a resident of India.

·       She should not already be receiving maternity benefits from her employer.

This scheme is mainly for first-time mothers, but in some cases, second-time mothers may also be eligible, depending on government updates.

How Much Money Can You Get and When?

The total amount of ₹5,000 is paid in three installments.

First Installment - ₹1,000. It is given when the woman registers her pregnancy at an approved health center or Anganwadi.

Second Installment - ₹2,000. It is paid after she completes at least one prenatal check-up, usually after six months of pregnancy.

Third Installment - ₹2,000. paid after the baby is born and receives the first essential vaccinations.

The money is transferred directly to the mother’s Aadhaar-linked bank account for convenience and security.

How to Apply for Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana

You can apply for the scheme online or offline, whichever is easier for you.

Online Application

1.     Visit the official PMMVY portal: pmmvy.wcd.gov.in

2.     Click on “Citizen Login” and enter your mobile number.

3.     Verify with the OTP sent to your phone.

4.     Fill in your details and upload documents like Aadhaar card, pregnancy certificate, and bank account details.

Offline Application

1.     Visit your nearest Anganwadi center, ASHA worker, or approved health facility.

2.     Ask for the PMMVY application form.

3.     Submit Aadhaar, pregnancy certificate, bank account info, and proof of residence.
