18-year-old Dhaanvi Karthikeyan from Chennai has become the first female student from Tamil Nadu to visit a Russian space center. Her story shows how passion and hard work can open doors to amazing opportunities.

Dhaanvi has always been interested in physics and space science. She took an online course in quantum mechanics from Stanford University and spent time learning about astrophysics and aerospace engineering.

 

How She Got Selected

Dhaanvi participated in a nationwide online competition that had nearly 5 lakh students from across India. Out of this huge number, she was selected as one of five students to attend a five-day International Aerospace Camp in Moscow, Russia. This camp was a chance to explore space science up close and learn about astronaut training, satellites, and advanced technology.

Experience at the Russian Space Centre

During her visit, Dhaanvi explored astronaut training facilities, satellite manufacturing units, and even met Russian cosmonauts. She learned about the rigorous training cosmonauts undergo and the advanced technology used in space missions.

She described the experience as a big dream come true and said that her interest in quantum mechanics helped her get this amazing opportunity.

 

Academic Background and Future Plans

Dhaanvi recently completed her Class 12 exams and appeared for the NEET entrance exam, hoping to pursue medicine. Even though she is interested in medicine, her love for physics and space science remains strong.

Her father, Karthikeyan, works in a private software company and is very proud of her achievements. Her family’s support played a big role in helping her follow her dreams.

When Dhaanvi returned to Chennai, her family and friends welcomed her warmly at the airport. This showed how proud her community is of her achievement.
