A family of three in Bengaluru went out to click maternity photos. They wanted to create memories before the baby arrived. Never did they know it would turn out to be so tragic.

On a sunny afternoon near Giddenahalli, which falls on the outskirts of Bengaluru, a family was enjoying their maternity photoshoot. The mother, Swathi, who was eight months pregnant and expecting her second child, was posing for pictures with a friend’s family at The Shire Studio, which is a popular place for professional shoots.

Her 3-year-old son Lakshveer C was with her at the location. While Swathi and others were busy capturing images, the child was playing nearby. There were three small decorative water ponds at the studio for photo backgrounds. Around 2:30 pm, the toddler slipped and fell into one of these water pools.

The people who were present there did not notice immediately. After some time, they realised that the child was missing. Soon, the family members and staff began looking for the child. They found Lakshveer in the artificial water pond, but by the time help arrived, it was too late. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

About the Child and His Family?

Lakshveer was the son of Charan Raj and Swathi, who live in JP Nagar, Bengaluru. The father was travelling abroad when the incident occurred. He was informed later. He was expected to return to Bangalore soon.

How Did Such a Tragedy Happen?

The studio where they were doing the photoshoot had decorative water features that are often used in maternity or pre‑wedding shoots. Unfortunately, these water pools made the environment dangerous for an unsupervised toddler.

Police believe Lakshveer may have wandered close to one of these water pools. At that age, children are curious to know new things. He must have slipped accidently and unfortunately, there was nobody around to supervise him.

Tips to Keep Children Safe Around Water

Accidents like this show how important it is to stay alert around water. The water was not deep, but for a 3-year-old, it turned tragic.

1. Never Take Your Eyes Off a Toddler Near Water

Toddlers at this age rarely know to defend themselves in water. So, it is always suggested to keep children within arm’s reach when you have water around. Don’t underestimate the depth, sometimes, even a decorative pond can lead to unexpected accidents.

2. Assign Someone to Watch the Child

If the adults are busy, there should be someone to look after the child.

3. Choose Safer Photo Locations

If possible, choose locations without open water or hazards for family shoots and events.

4. Bring Simple Barriers

Even temporary barriers near water can help prevent kids from wandering into dangerous areas.

Water may look beautiful in photos, but it had turned dangerous in reality for this family. This was an example of a few minutes of distraction leading to a devastating loss. Young children should be under 24/7 surveillance till they get independent enough to protect themselves from such hazards.
