What was supposed to be a simple meal turned out to be a nightmare for this family, however, investigations suggest that there is more to the story. Read on to know more.
The shocking incident took place in the Chandkheda area of Ahmedabad, where 2 young sisters, Raha Prajapati (3 months) and her elder sister Mishri Prajapati (4 years), allegedly lost their lives after consuming Dosa made from ready-made batter. Their parents were also hospitalized in critical condition but are stable now.
Sequence Of Events
According to Raha and Mishri’s grandfather, Gaurishankar Prajapati, Vimal, the father, had purchased around 3 kg of Dosa batter from a nearby dairy, Ghanshyam Dairy, at around 8:00 pm on April 1. The family had dosa for dinner.
The next morning, Vimal woke up with severe vomiting and uneasiness. He had to be admitted to the hospital.
Bhavna, the mother, didn't realize that the batter could be the reason. She consumed the batter again and even gave some to her younger daughter, Raha.

They soon started showing the same symptoms as Vimal and were admitted to the hospital. The condition of the children deteriorated very quickly.
3-month-old Raha developed severe convulsions and died during treatment, whereas Mishri seemed to get better for a while and was even discharged for a while. Later, she had to be readmitted as her condition deteriorated again but could not be saved.
The Shocking Twist
While the family believes the dosa batter is to blame, the police are not fully convinced. There are a few things that don’t add up.
Officials have revealed that the family initially did not report Raha’s death and even performed her last rites without informing them. It was only after Mishri’s death that the family alerted the officials.
Also, it has been pointed out that Raha was just 3 months old, and there was no way she could have consumed dosa. She was solely breastfed, so it is quite strange that she developed food poisoning as well.
