For many actors, the dream is for everyone to see their work. From big screen movies to popular TV shows, fame is part of their job. But for beloved actor Nakuul Mehta, fatherhood has given him a whole new perspective on success and parenting.
In a recent interview, the Ishqbaaaz and Space Gen Chandrayaan star shared something honest about how he’s raising his son Sufi.
A Dad Who Keeps It Real
Nakuul revealed that although his son knows he’s an actor and has even visited his film sets, he hasn’t watched any of his father’s work yet.
Yes, that means Sufi hasn’t seen his dad on TV or in web series - not even once!
But there’s a thoughtful reason behind this choice.
Instead of introducing Sufi to his films or shows now, Nakuul says he wants his son to see his profession just like any other job.
He explains that keeping his work separate from his home life helps Sufi understand that his dad is a professional who goes to work each day. He does not want his son to feel anything special that makes his child see him differently from others.
This mindset is growing among many actors in the spotlight. They want to protect their children from early fame exposure and let them enjoy a normal childhood first.

Nakuul Mehta as a Father of Two
Nakuul Mehta and his wife Jankee Parekh are parents to two children - their son Sufi and their younger daughter Rumi. While Sufi is already growing up curious and aware of his surroundings, Rumi is still very young. Nakuul often shares that becoming a father has changed how he looks at life, work, and success. For him, being a good father matters more than being a famous actor. At home, he is not a star. He is just a hands-on dad who wants his children to grow up grounded, loved, and free from pressure.
Parenting with Purpose
Nakuul mentioned how fatherhood has changed him personally. In the same interview, the actor explained that becoming a parent made him rethink what ambition and success mean.
He shared that his ambition hasn’t disappeared it’s just become quieter and more meaningful. Now, it’s less about chasing loud achievements and more about appreciating small, everyday wins.
Parents can truly relate to this. Once the little ones enter your life, being present for the family matters more than anything else. Applause and popularity will follow, but priority is family.
As a working actor, Nakuul admits that balancing his career and parenting isn’t always easy. But he’s clear that being there for his children is a priority he takes seriously.
And while Sufi hasn’t watched him on screen yet, the boy still enjoys parts of his dad’s work, like hearing songs from a show he starred in and loving the music without the visuals.
Nakuul and his wife are building a home where presence matters more than performance. It’s a reminder that a child’s love doesn’t need popularity, it just needs time, care, and presence.
