Neha Dhupia Reveals Her Parents Wanted to Name Her ‘Nirvana’ — Here’s Why They Didn’t

In a recent interview, the actress shared a personal story about how her parents originally chose the name Nirvana for her but changed it at the last minute after a twist involving a film they saw.

Neha Dhupia revealed that if not for one moment, she might have gone through life as Nirvana. Her parents had decided on the name because they loved its depth and meaning, but when they arrived to register her name at the municipal office, it was lunchtime and they decided to go watch a movie instead.

While they were in the theatre, they saw a character named Neha and something about the name resonated with them. By the time they returned, their minds had changed and the rest is history. “Nirvana… Neha. But this one stuck,” Neha recalled with a smile during the conversation.

This small twist of fate of stepping out for a film while registering her name ended up shaping both her identity and her destiny.
