Yet, beyond the glitter of the silver screen lies a deeply human and touching story - one that reveals the actor’s compassionate heart and his extraordinary journey with his adopted daughter, Dishani Chakraborty.
A Baby Left to Fate
Years ago, in the bustling streets of Kolkata, a heartbreaking headline appeared in a Bengali daily - a newborn girl had been abandoned near a garbage dump, left alone and in peril. When Mithun Chakraborty read about the rescue in the newspaper, without hesitation, he decided that he had to do something. He immediately traveled to the location where the rescued baby was being cared for and expressed his desire to adopt her. His wife, Yogeeta Bali, stood firmly beside him.

From Trash to Treasure
After completing the necessary adoption formalities, Mithun and Yogeeta welcomed the baby girl into their family. They named her Dishani, a name that would come to symbolize new beginnings and boundless love. Raised alongside her three brothers, Mahaakshay, Ushmey, and Namashi Chakraborty, Dishani was nurtured with the same affection and love.
Although born into abandonment, Dishani never felt unwanted in her adoptive home. Mithun and Yogeeta ensured she gets everything that their biological children are relished with. Today, she remains very close to her father, often described as a daddy’s girl.
A Star in Her Own Right
Dishani’s journey has been nothing short of inspirational. After completing her schooling in India, she pursued her passion for acting and storytelling by moving to Los Angeles, where she studied at the prestigious New York Film Academy.
Her dedication paid off when she made her Hollywood debut with the short film Gift in 2017, followed by notable appearances in several other short films, including The Guest in 2022.
