As Cyclone Nisarga heads towards the coast of Gujarat and Maharashtra, make sure you follow these precautionary tips and ensure maximum safety for you and your family members.

1. Stay indoors. Go out only when it is essential.

2. Keep your mobile phones and power bank charged and keep them on battery saving mode. Consider these your lifelines. Put these on the strongest battery saving mode. Use Only 1 phone in your family and save the battery of other phones. Power may falter during the cyclone.

3. Keep candles and matchsticks handy.

4. Store items like grocery, vegetables and milk.Keep dry foods, chocolates, nuts, packaged foods and drinking water at a safe place.

5. Keep a lookout for broken electrical poles, wires and other sharp objects.

6. Check if there is any loose glass window or door. Get your windows (if glass) backed with curtains on your side (inside of the house), so that no glass breakage comes inside, in case that happens.

7. Remove hangers and pots from the balcony. Keep them inside.

8. Keep a first aid kit in a plastic bag / polybag. Make sure you have all necessary medicines in a polybag packed. Keep a minimum of 7 days medicine.

9. Create polybag kits for things like phone devices, important papers, candles, cash, ID proofs ropes (3-4 meters or more), whistles, knife, shoes.

10. Do not forward fake social media and whatsapp messages. Listen to only the official statements.

11. Drink boiled or chlorinated water.

12. Do not go into damaged buildings.

13. During the cyclone, unplug all electrical appliances.

Stay safe!
