A proud moment for all Indians as Aarit Kapil became the youngest Indian to beat Grandmaster Raset Ziatdinov (United States) in the ninth and penultimate round of the KIIT International open tournament. Aarit is just 9 years, 2 months and 18 days old.

The youngest player in the world to beat a Grandmaster is 8-year-old Ashwath Kaushik, an Indian-origin boy from Singapore, who defeated Jacek Stupa of Poland when he was merely 8 years and 6 months old.
