Hi A. Anna Lakshmi! How r u! Believe u me this is the concern of most of the mothers ! We need to be smarter than our smart bubs and look for innovative ways to make them have nutritious balanced meals. A 8 year old knows quite well what should go in his plate and how to get rid of unwanted ingredients. though it is tricky but can be a very successful tip if you puree or finely chop the vegetables say 1or 2 to begin with and put it in his dal like sambhar or in his sandwich as a dressing or use previous day left over veggies as a filling in his parantha or use vegetable stock to knead dough, it should serve the purpose. Also take him out for vegetable shopping, make him buy one vegetable of his choice and give money to shopkeeper and collect the correct balance back. Praise him for his efforts. This should keep him interested to begin with. Then search the net or books with him for its nutritive value. Make a scrapbook ,paste it's pic. Then try different recipes with the same vegetable. Involve him in preparation. Once done name it after him. Serve it in an attractive bowl and let him serve everyone and share how he made it. Give all the credit to him. Praise him. I am sure this should work and he will start giving it a try. Make meal time happy family time rather than power struggle. Hope this helps!
