Hi Varsha, the best way to avoid this is to stop asking him to study. let him do whatever he wants to do. He will come back on his own to study when he sees there is no prompting from you on studying.

Most of the children are like this now a days. They are attracted to technology and want freedom from boring studies. Actually the problem is with our current teaching methods than with our children. Teachers and parents fail to understand that this generation of kids who are born with technology in their hands need a different way of teaching than those previous ways of opening a book & reading & practising by only craming and writing. There are so many apps and videos related to the topics that your child must be studying at school. Search the best of videos when your child is at school and keep them ready ready. When your child is in a good mood n his tummy is full tell him that i saw a very interesting video today , lets watch it together. show 2 videos and then connect it to the book topic and sit with him n read that chapter. Later ask him oral questions in a play way manner. Give him turn to ask you questions as well. Make learning fun for him.

the problem is not studies problem is stereotype education and examination system.... kids have far more intellect compared to us when we were of that age..... alas we are improving but our education system and examination pattern is rotten ...

It is very easy to stabilised that our education system is on fault. Education system is changing day by day , remember the way you taught and your kids. Now we need more involvement with our kids to impart lessons. Now a days we are missing relationship between Teachers and students causing uncomfortable education system.
