Confessions Of A Pregnant Mom — To Puke Or Not To Puke

Story behind it

Hi, I am Zahirah, a first-time mom, navigating the chaos and beauty of pregnancy. Confessions Of A Pregnant Mom' is my honest little corner where I share the real, raw, and sometimes ridiculous moments of this journey.

It’s day 121 of my pregnancy, and I legit had to check my phone to figure that out.

Wondering why? Because at this point, 60 per cent of my brain is occupied with food that I crave but can’t have, and the other 40% is still trying to figure out who lied to me about the second trimester being “easier.”

“No Morning Sickness after 3rd month,” they said

Well, it is not just morning, it’s afternoon, evening, night … basically a 24x7 thing now.

I wake up feeling nauseated

I have breakfast and feel like throwing up

I get in a cab, and the smell makes me wanna throw up

I laugh too hard and I feel like I might just puke my lungs out

Sometimes I even wake up in the middle of the night feeling nauseated

So, in this so-called ‘Golden Phase’ of pregnancy, I’ve been trying to keep track of days when I don’t feel like throwing up. Guess what, the day hasn’t come yet.

It doesn’t stop there. I still have to eat again after throwing up because I must get enough nutrients for myself and the baby. So it goes,

Eat - throw up - eat - throw up

Sometimes, I feel stuffed up to the throat, but my stomach is still growling. And no, it’s not a cute little rumble, it’s a full-fledged hunger roar that might probably scare a lion.

My 121-day-long journey reminds me of how my mother used to say, "Work hard till you get into a college, and then your life will be a bed of roses”.

The truth is, the easy part never actually comes, and that’s exactly what I feel about my pregnancy journey and parenting as a whole.

If you’ve felt the same way during your pregnancy do share your experience in the comments — just knowing I’m not the only one riding this rollercoaster might just help me puke a little less (fingers crossed).
