Trolled for Losing Weight Fast: Alia Bhatt Shares Her Truth After Motherhood

Mother comes with a lot of changes. One of those is the post-pregnancy weight gain. Feeding demands a lot of nutrient intake, which leads to a surge in body weight. Many manage to lose it by regular exercise and other activities. For some, it gets difficult due to health issues.

However, one of our favourite Bollywood moms, Alia Bhatt, managed to get back to shape very quickly. Well, it is not as easy as it looks. Alia managed to do that with religious exercise and yoga. But there is a story behind that Alia wanted to share.

She opened up about how she was criticized for losing weight too quickly after her daughter Raha was born.

 

Welcoming Raha and the Weight Gain

In November 2022, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor welcomed their daughter, Raha. Like most mothers, Alia experienced the weight changes in her body. She has said that after pregnancy, she did put on quite a bit of weight.

This is common and natural. Many mothers go through different post-delivery phases.

The Weight Loss

After some time, the public noticed how quickly Alia seemed to return to a slimmer figure. Instead of words of praise or encouragement, she began facing criticism and trolling. Some people accused her of using unnatural means to lose weight fast. Others said she should not push things and should take her time.

Alia recalled how a photograph went viral, and trolls commented: “She must have done something unnatural to lose weight so fast!” or “Why did she have to do it so quickly?” She said she saw these messages and felt unsettled.

 

Her Candor: Breastfeeding, Calories & Clean Eating

Rather than stay silent, Alia chose to speak her truth. She recently appeared on the show Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle Khanna. There she opened up about her postpartum experience. She clarified that breastfeeding naturally burns a lot of calories and that was one of the major reasons of her weight loss. She also emphasized that she kept a balanced diet which helped her body adjust over time.

Alia said:

“After giving birth to Raha, I actually put on quite a bit of weight. I was breastfeeding, and it burns a lot of calories, and I was also eating clean. So I lost a lot of the weight quite quickly.”

In her words, it was partly a natural process working in the background while she cared for her baby.

 

The Pressure on New Mothers

A new mom usually faces expectations and judgment about their body after childbirth. Society often expects mothers to bounce back quickly. But that ignores how different everybody is. There are lot of things that work here – the metabolism, hormones, stress, and many more.

 

Getting trolled for something natural is unjust. No one should feel pressured or shamed for how their body changes. Every story is different.
