“Found Lying In A Fetal Position, Naked” 9-Year-Old Locked By Father In A Utility Van For 2 Years

A disturbing incident has come to light in France, where police have found a 9-year-old boy trapped inside his father's utility van. Investigation has revealed that the child was locked by his own father in 2024, and ever since, the child has been living there in rather inhumane conditions.

The incident came to light when the neighbours heard unusual sounds coming from the van and realised that it was like the cries of a child. They reported the incident immediately.

The police reached the spot and forced open the van, only to see something that shook them to the core. They found a child “lying in a fetal position, naked, covered by a blanket on top of a mound of trash and near excrement,” as reported by The Associated Press.

The child was allegedly in a very bad condition, malnourished and incapable of walking. 

Initial investigation has revealed that the child’s father locked him in the van just because he wanted to protect him. He has allegedly told the investigators that he did this because his partner wanted to send the child to a psychiatric hospital when he was seven.

However, it has been found that the child did not have any psychiatric problems and used to get very good grades in school. 

The child has reportedly told the investigators that he and his father’s partner did not get along well, and he did not resist when his father locked him up because he believed that his father had no choice. The boy hadn’t even taken a bath since 2024.

The father has been detained, whereas his partner, who denied knowing about the child, has been released under judicial supervision.

The boy also has a 12-year-old sister who has been put in the care of Social Services, along with the 10-year-old daughter of his father’s partner.
